Description

The Construction machinery mechanic (Millwright) position involves the maintenance, repair and servicing of equipment and machinery used on construction sites. This role is essential to ensure the proper functioning of equipment, minimize downtime and ensure safety on site.

Responsibilities

    Install, repair, adjust, assemble and dismantle machinery, in addition to handling it.
    Manufacture jigs for this machinery, such as: conveyors, turbines, wind turbines, compressors, ovens, grinders and production lines.
    Perform regular inspections of equipment and machinery for signs of deterioration or malfunction.
    Perform preventative maintenance according to established schedules to extend the life of equipment.
    Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on equipment and machines, including motors, hydraulic systems and electrical components.
    Perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime on site.
    Install new equipment and machinery according to manufacturer's specifications and site requirements.
    Configure equipment to ensure its proper functioning and safety.
    Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
    Order spare parts from suppliers and manage inventory efficiently.
    Adhere to safety standards on the job site by using personal protective equipment and following established safety procedures.
    Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Requirements

    Professional training in construction machinery mechanics, industrial mechanics or any other combination of relevant training is an asset.
    Previous experience in construction mechanics or in a similar position, an asset.
    Knowledge of equipment and machinery used in the construction industry.
    Knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics and electricity.
    Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical problems effectively.
    Knowledge of welding, an asset.
    Respectful of occupational health and safety rules.
    Sense of analysis and developed logical mind.
    Good physical capacity and manual skills.
    Resourceful and independent.
    Good communication and problem solving skills.
