Description
The Assistant Project Manager / Estimation in a construction or civil engineering company assists the Project Manager - Estimator in the management of construction projects, from cost estimation to the coordination of site activities. This role is crucial to ensuring the smooth running of projects by supporting the project management team in planning, supervising and completing work according to specifications and deadlines.
Responsibilities
• Analyze project plans, quotes and specifications to assess the scope of work required.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment and other resources.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager - Estimator to write and submit detailed proposals and bids.
• Assist in the creation and management of project schedules.
• Participate in organizing the resources needed for each phase of the project, ensuring that materials and equipment are available in a timely manner.
• Assist in supervising work on site to ensure it is carried out in accordance with plans and quality standards.
• Coordinate activities with subcontractors and suppliers under the direction of the Project Manager - Estimator.
• Monitor work progress and help keep projects on budget and on time.
• Maintain regular communication with site teams, clients and other stakeholders.
• Prepare meeting minutes and progress reports to keep the Project Manager - Estimator and clients informed.
• Participate in the implementation and monitoring of quality control procedures on the site.
• Ensure all safety standards are met and promote a culture of safety among workers.
• Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including progress reports, site records and financial documents.
• Assist in the preparation of final project reports for management and clients.
• Perform any other related task.
Requirements
• Degree in administration, civil engineering, construction management or a related field, an asset.
• Additional training in estimation or project management, an asset.
• Experience participating in construction projects and cost estimating an asset.
• Good knowledge of construction techniques and materials, an asset.
• Knowledge of project management and estimation software, an asset.
• Knowledge of building codes and construction regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and coordinate with various stakeholders.
• Strong ability to solve problems and make decisions quickly.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
