Description
The Building Electrical Designer plays an essential role in the design and planning of existing and new electrical systems for a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects. He is responsible for producing accurate and detailed technical drawings, working closely with engineers and other members of the design team.
Responsibilities
• Analyze project specifications and electrical requirements to understand client needs and site constraints.
• Produce technical drawings, layout plans, electrical diagrams and other graphic documents necessary for the design of electrical installations.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP or equivalent, to create and modify 2D and 3D drawings.
• Collaborate closely with engineers and other members of the design team to develop effective technical solutions that comply with current standards.
• Attend coordination meetings with clients, engineers and contractors to discuss project details and possible modifications.
• Carry out on-site surveys to collect precise and up-to-date information necessary for the design of electrical installations.
• Participate in validating the compliance of plans and specifications with guidelines, code requirements and other regulations.
• May be required to carry out site visits and monitor work in progress for the projects you are working on.
• May be required to participate in or carry out the preparation of cost estimates, technical specifications and tender documents.
Requirements
• Degree in building design, in building electricity, in building mechanics (mechanical and electricity profile), in electrical engineering, or in a related field.
• Knowledge of the Building Code (CNB), an asset.
• Knowledge of the Electrical Code.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, schematics and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit MEP software.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for writing reports and coordinating with other team members.
