Description

The Foreman - Heavy Equipment Mechanic plays an essential role in supervising and coordinating maintenance and repair activities on construction equipment, such as backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, hydraulic excavators, dozers ( bulldozer) graders, etc. He is responsible for ensuring that equipment is in good working order to ensure productivity and safety on construction sites.

Responsibilities

    Manage your team of mechanics in a heavy machine fleet.
    Coordinate your activities with the various stakeholders: quality, production, coordinator, etc.
    Be the point of contact to validate needs and the distribution of tasks according to the order of priorities.
    Place orders for parts and equipment in coordination with operations.
    Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability and durability.
    Work with parts suppliers to obtain necessary replacement parts and equipment on time.
    Provide technical support and training to team members on good maintenance and repair practices for construction equipment.
    Assign repair orders and ensure the work is done correctly and safely.
    Present projects to the manager in order to assess their feasibility, estimate deadlines and associated costs.
    Optimize the maintenance budget.
    Monitor trends and technological developments in the field of construction equipment, and recommend improvements to optimize equipment performance.

Requirements

    Degree in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment machinery, industrial mechanics, electromechanics, or in a related field.
    Experience with construction machinery or agricultural machinery.
    Valid Heavy Equipment Mechanic certification, an asset.
    Ability to interpret detailed maintenance manuals.
    In-depth knowledge of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical principles of construction machinery.
    Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and supervise team members.
    Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in complex situations.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
    Attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence and quality of service.
