Description
The Infrastructure Engineer is an essential professional in various sectors, whether within an engineering firm, a municipality or a construction and civil engineering company. This role involves the design, planning, management and supervision of public infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, sewer systems, drinking water systems, and other civil works.
Responsibilities
• Read technical documents and establish design criteria.
• Design infrastructure projects taking into account client needs, budgetary constraints, regulatory requirements and environmental considerations.
• Write plans and quotes and ensure their validity and compliance (Quality Assurance).
• Carry out technical studies, including hydraulic, geotechnical and structural analyses, to guarantee the viability and sustainability of projects.
• Participate in the preparation of contractual documents, studies and evaluation of bids and recommendations.
• Support the client in his negotiations with the recommended contractor(s/suppliers).
• Evaluate and make recommendations on various materials and equipment.
• Assume responsibility for the complete management of infrastructure projects, from the planning phase to completion, respecting deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
• Coordinate the different phases of the project with internal teams, subcontractors, regulatory authorities and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Supervise construction work in the field to ensure compliance with plans, safety standards and technical specifications.
• Conduct regular inspections to monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Identify potential risks associated with infrastructure projects and develop appropriate mitigation plans to minimize negative impacts.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including progress reports, quantity statements and updated budgets.
Requirements
• University degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Professional engineering license.
• Experience in the design and management of infrastructure projects, preferably in the construction and civil engineering sector, an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and project management software.
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering standards and regulations.
• Leadership, team management and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Mobility to travel to construction sites and meet clients as needed.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
