Description
The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Trainer is responsible for designing, organizing and delivering training on occupational health and safety practices as part of accident and occupational disease prevention programs within the company. . This role is crucial for raising employee awareness of occupational risks and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities
• Design and/or adapt OHS training programs meeting the specific needs of the company, taking into account professional risks, regulatory standards and best practices in occupational health and safety.
• Prepare educational materials, including presentations, manuals, practical exercises and case studies, to support training sessions.
• Facilitate in-person or online training sessions on a variety of workplace health and safety topics, such as fall prevention, hazardous product handling, emergency evacuation procedures, etc.
• Evaluate participants' skills during and after training, using appropriate assessment methods such as written tests, practical demonstrations or simulations.
• Provide monitoring and feedback to participants to help them strengthen their knowledge and skills in workplace health and safety.
• Ensure compliance of training programs with current health and safety laws and standards.
• Stay informed of legislative developments and best practices in occupational health and safety, and update training programs accordingly.
Requirements
• Recognized occupational health and safety trainer certification, an asset, or transferable experience.
• Experience in the field of occupational health and safety, preferably as an OHS trainer or advisor, an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to design and implement effective training programs tailored to specific business needs.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work in a team and build trusting relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
• Flexibility to adapt training programs based on changing business needs and to deliver training to different locations as needed.
