Description
The Scaffold Erector plays a crucial role on construction sites by erecting, dismantling and maintaining scaffolding structures to allow safe access to work areas at height. This professional is responsible for working as a team to assemble scaffolding according to plans and specifications, while ensuring the safety of workers on the site.
Responsibilities
• Install the security system and demarcate work areas.
• Proceed with handling the scaffolding parts to carry out the installation.
• Lift the parts using a cable and pulley, a winch or by hand.
• Provide signage, among other things, when the installer collaborates with a lifting equipment operator, during deliveries and pick-ups of equipment.
• When work is carried out at height without guardrails, be aware of the risk of injury/fall and strap yourself in at all times.
• Assemble scaffolding following specific plans and instructions, using components such as ladders, posts, crosspieces and floors, to create safe structures for workers.
• Ensure that scaffolding is installed in accordance with current safety standards and site regulations, using personal protective equipment and ensuring the stability and solidity of the structures.
• Inspect scaffolding regularly for signs of damage or deterioration, and make repairs or replacements as necessary to ensure its safety and optimal operation.
• Work closely with other team members on site, including supervisors, foremen and other workers, to coordinate activities and ensure efficient progress of work.
• Communicate effectively with team members to convey scaffolding instructions, needs and concerns, and report any issues or potential safety hazards.
• Ensure scaffolding is installed in a manner that minimizes environmental impacts, avoiding material spillage and following site waste management procedures.
• When the customer has finished using our facilities, reverse all operations for dismantling.
• Participate in the process of continuous improvement of assembly/disassembly procedures.
• Participate in safety training and awareness programs to stay up to date on best practices for erecting and dismantling scaffolding, as well as safety regulations.
Requirements
• Health and safety certificate on construction sites (course in general health and safety on construction sites), an asset.
• Experience in the field of scaffolding, an asset.
• Hold a valid driving license and be able to travel to the various work sites.
• Good physical condition and ability to work at height and in varied conditions.
• Good manual skills and dexterity.
• Ability to work outdoors (thermal constraints).
• Ability to read and interpret scaffolding plans, an asset.
• Availability during the day, evening and weekend.
• Time and priority management.
• Frequent travel.
• Ability to count and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Initiative and innovation.
