Description
The Storekeeper plays a vital role in ensuring the availability and organization of tools, equipment, and materials within a construction company. They are responsible for supplying employees with the resources needed for their tasks while maintaining an efficient and orderly inventory system. The Storekeeper ensures that all materials are properly stored, tracked, and issued to support the smooth operation of projects. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with multiple teams in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
• Receive and verify deliveries of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Store resources in an organized and accessible manner in the company’s storage facilities.
• Issue tools, equipment, and materials to employees upon request and ensure proper documentation.
• Track inventory levels and update records in the inventory management system.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
• Perform regular inspections of tools and equipment to ensure they are in good condition and ready for use.
• Arrange for the repair, replacement, or maintenance of tools and equipment as needed.
• Collaborate with team leaders or project managers to anticipate material needs and plan replenishments.
• Conduct periodic inventory checks and audits to verify accuracy.
• Ensure the storage area complies with safety standards and regulations.
• Implement procedures to prevent loss, damage, or theft of company resources.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction tools, materials, and equipment.
• Proficiency in using inventory management software or tools (an asset).
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple requests simultaneously.
• Good physical condition to handle heavy tools and materials when needed.
• Reliability and punctuality, with a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of safety practices related to tool and equipment storage (an asset).
• Certification in handling equipment such as forklifts (an asset).
