You use BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology to collaborate with design and construction teams, ensuring the integration and coordination of information related to mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle: HVAC, piping and plumbing , energy analysis and installation management.
Responsibilities
• Collect and analyze data to have a better understanding of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) loads, flow rates and energy consumption.
• Simulate and analyze energy performance, optimizing designs for long-term sustainability.
• Use specialized BIM software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP or equivalent to create and modify 3D models of mechanical engineering systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing.
• Collaborate with engineers and other project team members to understand project requirements and translate concepts into accurate BIM models.
• Create model elements such as ducts, HVAC equipment, piping, and fixtures following applicable design and construction standards.
• Integrate mechanical system data such as equipment specifications, airflow, plumbing circuits, and thermal insulation information into the BIM model.
• Ensure coordination of mechanical models with other disciplines such as architecture, structure and electrical to ensure project integrity and compatibility.
• Perform collision analyzes to detect potential conflicts between elements of mechanical systems and propose design solutions.
• Prepare working drawings, installation plans and detail drawings from the BIM model for project documentation.
• Participate in project coordination meetings to discuss progress, challenges and possible solutions with team members.
• Ensure the management and regular updating of the mechanical BIM model throughout the project life cycle.
• Attend and participate in internal and external BIM development meetings.
• Develop, implement, disseminate, enforce and update BIM standards for projects.
Requirements
• Degree in mechanical engineering, building technology, or a related field.
• Experience using BIM software, preferably in the mechanical engineering or construction field, an asset.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering design concepts and practices.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, or equivalent software.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly and precisely.
• Strong sense of organization, precision and time management to meet project deadlines.
• Knowledge of building standards and codes applicable.
