Description
The Building Electrical Technician plays a crucial role in the construction of existing and new electrical systems for various types of buildings, residential, commercial, institutional and industrial. This professional is responsible for ensuring the planning, design and monitoring of electrical system projects, ensuring compliance with current standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
• Participate in the planning, design, coordination and verification of electrical projects in close collaboration with clients, professionals, engineers and/or other team members.
• Assist engineers in their plan and quote design tasks using CAD calculation and development tools.
• Validate compliance of plans and specifications with guidelines, code requirements and other regulations.
• Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD or REVIT software.
• Write various documents, such as reports, quotes and cost estimates.
• Carry out field visits, participate in certain stages of work supervision.
• Provide technical assistance when carrying out work on site.
• Carry out surveys and prepare plans and specifications.
• Carry out surveys of electrical installations and draw up plans for them.
• Assist professionals in estimating, monitoring and controlling costs.
• Participate in resolving technical problems and issues that arise.
• Provide support to the team's engineers, technicians and designers.
• Maintain technological and regulatory monitoring in the field of building electricity to stay informed of developments and best practices.
Requirements
• Degree in building electricity, building mechanics (mechanical and electricity profile), electrotechnics, or in a related field.
• Knowledge of the Building Code, an asset.
• Knowledge of the Electrical Code.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, schematics and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit software, an asset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for writing reports and coordinating with other team members.
