Description

The Building Mechanical Technician plays an essential role in the maintenance, optimization and management of building mechanical systems, as well as in their integration during construction projects. It ensures the proper functioning, safety and energy efficiency of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing equipment, thus contributing to the comfort of occupants and the sustainability of buildings.

Responsibilities

    Correctly interpret the plans, drawings and technical specifications provided as reference or those prepared by other professionals for coordination and/or integration purposes.
    Design and prepare technical plans (plumbing, regulation, ventilation, cooling and heating).
    Carry out surveys of mechanical installations and draw up plans for them.
    Perform calculations of different mechanical systems according to proven methods.
    Participate in the preparation of work cost estimates.
    Carry out verification of shop drawings submitted by contractors
    Carry out inspections and produce lists of work to be corrected and/or completed.
    Perform preventative and curative maintenance on building mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing equipment.
    Diagnose and resolve technical problems on mechanical equipment, ensuring their proper operation and minimizing downtime.
    Participate in optimizing the energy performance of buildings by proposing improvements and upgrades to mechanical systems.
    Collaborate with engineers and other team members in the planning and execution of construction projects involving mechanical systems.
    Assist in the supervision and inspection of construction work to ensure compliance of facilities with plans and specifications.
    Maintain technical documentation, intervention reports and maintenance histories of mechanical equipment up to date.
    Participate in technological and regulatory monitoring in the field of building mechanics to stay informed of best practices and new standards.

Requirements

    Degree in mechanical building engineering technology, specialization in building mechanics, or any other training in a related field.
    Experience in building mechanics, such as in the maintenance or optimization of building mechanical systems, an asset.
    Knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and plumbing equipment, as well as regulation and control principles.
    Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams and technical manuals.
    Knowledge of load calculation software (TRACE, HAP or other), an asset.
    Knowledge of Word, Excel, Autocad and REVIT software, an asset.
    Autonomy, rigor and sense of organization in the execution of tasks.
    Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing response reports and coordinating with other team members.
