Description
The Construction Materials Delivery Driver plays a crucial role in the supply chain for construction projects. Responsible for the efficient and safe delivery of materials to job sites, the driver ensures that construction teams have the necessary resources to complete their work on time. This role requires strong organizational skills, safe driving practices, and excellent communication with team members and clients.
Responsibilities
• Load, transport, and deliver various construction materials (lumber, concrete, tools, equipment, etc.) to job sites.
• Ensure deliveries are completed on time while adhering to traffic and safety regulations.
• Verify the accuracy of orders before departure.
• Use handling equipment (forklifts, truck-mounted cranes, etc.) to safely load and unload materials.
• Handle materials with care to avoid damage.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any issues.
• Keep vehicles clean and in good working condition.
• Collaborate with the purchasing or logistics department to plan optimal delivery routes.
• Provide regular updates on delivery status and report any delays or issues.
Requirements
• Valid driver’s license with the appropriate class.
• Road safety training (an asset).
• Certification for operating specific equipment (forklift, crane) is a plus.
• Prior experience in delivery or a similar position (1 to 3 years, ideally in the construction industry).
• Knowledge of construction materials and tools used on job sites.
• Strong safe driving skills, even in challenging conditions.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to read plans or delivery slips.
• Good physical condition to load and unload heavy materials.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• Team-oriented attitude and professionalism when interacting with clients.
• Flexibility to adapt to variable schedules and emergencies.
