Description
The Decontamination Site Foreman plays a central role in supervising and coordinating decontamination operations on building and civil engineering sites. This professional is responsible for leading teams, ensuring worker safety and compliance with environmental regulations while ensuring the efficiency and quality of decontamination work.
Responsibilities
• Plan and organize decontamination activities on construction sites according to project requirements, in collaboration with the project team.
• Determines the labor needs of the site, with the project team.
• Coordinate the human, material and logistical resources necessary to ensure efficient execution of the work.
• Supervise teams of workers and subcontractors on site, train them in decontamination procedures and provide them with clear instructions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure schedule monitoring with the project team.
• Manage site supplies.
• Lead start-of-shift meetings as well as OHS breaks.
• See to the maintenance and proper functioning of site equipment and installations.
• Oversee the handling, transportation and disposal of contaminated materials safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Coordinate with companies specializing in the treatment and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Carry out regular inspections to ensure the quality of decontamination work and its compliance with established standards.
• Implement corrective measures if necessary to ensure the quality of results.
• Communicate effectively with project supervisors, clients and other stakeholders to ensure optimal coordination of work.
• Prepare regular reports on the progress of the work, the problems encountered and the solutions proposed.
Requirements
• Excellent knowledge of the construction field (and demolition, an asset).
• Excellent knowledge of technologies, regulations, quality standards and standards in decontamination work (asbestos, lead, etc.), an asset.
• Previous experience in decontamination or a similar position, with supervisory experience, an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of decontamination procedures, protective equipment and safety standards.
• Certification in health and safety on construction sites, an asset.
• Ability to work independently and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
• Good communication and leadership skills.
