Description

The Director of Estimation - Building plays an essential role in the process of preparing bids and offers for residential, commercial, institutional and industrial construction projects. This professional is responsible for coordinating and supervising the estimating team to guarantee the accuracy and competitiveness of the proposals submitted to clients.

Responsibilities

    Lead and mentor the estimating team by assigning tasks, setting goals, providing training and ensuring professional development of team members.
    Plan and organize estimating activities to meet bid deadlines by coordinating necessary resources, including personnel, estimating software, historical data and suppliers.
    Carefully review tender documents, including plans, specifications and specifications, to understand project requirements and identify items needed for estimation.
    Prepare detailed construction cost estimates using appropriate estimating methods, such as quantities, unit costs, overall costs and pricing methods.
    Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive and accurate quotes for materials, equipment and services required to complete the project.
    Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with subcontractors, suppliers and prospective customers.
    Conduct a competitive analysis of bids to assess the company's position relative to its competitors and propose strategies to improve competitiveness.
    Prepare comprehensive and professional proposals including cost summaries, construction schedules, methodologies and visual presentations to showcase the company's competitive advantages.
    Present proposals to potential clients and participate in negotiations to finalize contract details, including pricing, payment terms and timelines.
    Maintain accurate records of all bids prepared, including tender documents, quotes, proposals and related correspondence.

Requirements

    Degree in estimation, architecture, engineering, or any other combination of relevant training and experience.
    Significant experience in construction project estimating, with prior experience in team management and estimating supervision.
    Thorough knowledge of estimating methods, estimating software and construction principles.
    Advanced skills in analysis and interpretation of tender documents, plans and specifications.
    Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high level of precision and accuracy.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a clear, concise and persuasive manner.
    Strong sense of organization, time management and priorities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    Results orientation and attention to detail, with a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
    Ability to work independently and in a team, with a strong spirit of collaboration and partnership.
