Description
The Flagman (Traffic Control Person), is responsible for directing traffic and ensuring the safety of workers and the public on road construction sites. This role is essential to ensure the flow of traffic and prevent accidents in work zones.
Responsibilities
• Stop, slow down and direct traffic safely through work zones, construction sites or alternates.
• Ensuring the safety of road users and workers.
• Give directions and traffic control signals clearly and precisely so that drivers understand their meaning.
• Interrupt road traffic to facilitate access to the site for authorized employees.
• Slow down traffic speed when the roadway is partially obstructed by work in progress.
• Installation of signaling equipment.
Requirements
• Valid Flagman license, or Flagman Training Course, an asset.
• Experience as a Flagman, an asset.
• Must have a calm temperament or be able to remain calm in a stressful situation.
• Be attentive at all times, attentive and foreseeing.
• Vigilance in terms of health and safety at work (OSH).
• Available to work variable hours (day, evening and night) and on call.
• Valid driving license.
• Have access to a vehicle to travel to construction sites.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
