Description
The Grader Operator is responsible for handling and operating a grader (also known as a asphalt mill or road profiler) to prepare road surfaces by removing the existing top layer of asphalt. You play a crucial role in preparing surfaces for the laying of new asphalt layers, thus contributing to the construction and maintenance of quality road infrastructure in the region.
Responsibilities
• Handle and operate the grader skillfully to remove the existing top layer of asphalt or concrete on road surfaces, parking lots, or airport runways.
• Control the speed, milling depth, and other parameters of the grader to ensure efficient and uniform material removal.
• Strictly adhere to safety protocols on the construction site to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Perform preventive inspections of the grader to ensure its proper functioning and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Perform basic maintenance operations on the grader, such as lubrication, cleaning, and replacement of worn parts.
• Ensure the proper functioning of the grader by making adjustments and settings as needed.
• Cooperate with other team members on the construction site, such as truck drivers and compaction teams, to coordinate activities and achieve production goals.
Requirements
• Hold a certificate of competence.
• Experience in a similar position, an asset.
• Having experience in the field of bituminous coatings, an asset.
• Be concerned about health and safety at work
• Have good physical condition.
• Have the ability to work alone and in a team.
• Be autonomous, disciplined, responsible and meticulous.
