Description
As a Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice, you play a vital role on construction sites, operating various heavy equipment to complete jobs. Depending on your skills, your tasks may be to drive and operate heavy equipment on a construction site, such as: a bulldozer, a wheel or track loader, a grader, a scraper, a backhoe (backhoe loader), a self-propelled snow blower, a motorized street sweeper, a dumper or others.
Responsibilities
• Drive and operate heavy equipment, such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and others.
• Use equipment safely and efficiently according to site requirements.
• Participate in earthmoving, leveling, and excavation work.
• Follow plans and instructions to ensure work accuracy.
• Perform regular checks on equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Report mechanical problems or maintenance needs to the maintenance team.
• Respect safety standards on the construction site.
• Participate in safety meetings and help create a safe work environment.
• Coordinate with other team members on site to ensure effective communication.
• Follow plans and instructions from the foreman or project manager.
Requirements
• Heavy equipment operator certification.
• Previous experience as a heavy equipment operator, an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
