Description
A Painter and Decorator applies protective finishes in residential, commercial, institutional and industrial settings. They prepare a variety of surfaces (wood, masonry, drywall, plaster, concrete, synthetics, stucco and metal) prior to the application of materials such as paint, high performance coatings, waterproofing, fireproofing, and specialty finishes.
Responsibilities
• Reads specifications to determine quantities of materials required.
• Prepares and cleans surfaces using methods, such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steamcleaning.
• Mixes coatings according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Applies coatings using brushes, rollers or spray equipment
• Practices quality control.
• Assembles and erects scaffolding, swing stages and other access equipment.
Requirements
• Studies as a painter (asset)
• Have completed WHMIS training (asset).
• Having completed the ‘Working at height’ training (asset).
• Demonstrated experience as a building painter in the construction field (asset).
• Autonomy.
• Valid driving license.
