Description

The Project Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities related to the management of multi-residential, commercial, institutional and/or industrial projects. He plays a key role in planning, executing and monitoring projects, ensuring they are completed on time, on budget and to established quality standards. The Project Director plans, directs, organizes, coordinates and controls the completion of construction projects.

Responsibilities

    Provide overall supervision and direction of assigned projects, ensuring they are planned, executed and delivered on time and to required specifications.
    Direct project managers and superintendents, ensure that work carried out on construction sites meets the standards and objectives planned in terms of quality, safety and work relations, quantity, deadlines and costs and take necessary corrective measures.
    Assist Management in negotiating the terms of customer contracts.
    Analyze monthly, with the project managers under his responsibility, the cost control report of his projects and report it to Management.
    Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource requirements and performance objectives, taking into account the constraints and requirements specific to each project.
    Manage and allocate the human, financial and material resources necessary to carry out projects, ensuring their optimal use and compliance with established budgets.
    Establish and maintain close relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders, ensuring clear and regular communication throughout the process.
    Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying deviations from set objectives and proposing corrective actions to address them.
    Discuss legal files or disputes with management, and ensure documentation.
    Ensure compliance with health and safety standards on construction sites, ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with current regulations.
    Participate in project risk management, identifying potential threats and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
    Provide regular reports on project progress, providing updates on budgets, timelines, performance and issues encountered.
    Supervise and mentor project team members, promoting their professional development and ensuring their motivation and commitment to the project objectives.

Requirements

    University degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, architecture, project management or a related field.
    Certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, etc.), an asset.
    Significant experience in a project management role in the construction industry, with a solid understanding of project management processes and best practices.
    Mastery of project management principles, including planning, execution, controlling and closing projects.
    Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to motivate and mobilize a multidisciplinary team towards achieving common goals.
    Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while respecting deadlines and budgets.
    Proficiency in project management software, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
    In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety standards in the construction industry, with a commitment to the safety and well-being of workers on construction sites.
    Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, business partners and other project stakeholders.
