Description

The Project Manager / Estimator specialized in Bridges and structures plays a crucial role in managing and estimating construction projects related to bridges and civil engineering structures. This professional is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all phases of the projects, while also providing accurate cost estimates. They must possess in-depth technical expertise in this specific field to ensure the quality and safety of the constructed structures.

Responsibilities

Estimation:

  •  Using tender documents (plans and specifications), estimate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  •  Issue invitations to bid to suppliers and subcontractors and analyze them.
  •  Negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors.
  •  Actively participate with all stakeholders in the tender closing process.
  •  Prepare documents for the tender submission.

Project Management:

  •  Establish optimal work methods.
  •  Ensure technical monitoring (temporary works plans, technical data sheets, etc.).
  •  Responsible for planning activities on-site.
  •  Plan all resources necessary to execute contracts.
  •  Prepare all documents necessary for the successful completion of projects.
  •  Participate in site meetings.
  •  Manage changes and additional work.
  •  Manage human, material, and financial resources allocated to projects, ensuring compliance with deadlines and budgets.
  •  Supervise the work of subcontractors and workers on-site to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards.
  •  Conduct regular inspections to ensure that work is carried out according to specifications and safety standards.
  •  Ensure compliance with government regulations and industry standards throughout the construction process.
  •  Perform administrative follow-up (billing, payment, claims, etc.).
  •  Analyze cost variances compared to bids.

Requirements

  •  Degree in civil engineering or related field is an asset.
  •  Knowledge of bridge and civil engineering works execution.
  •  Recognized experience in the field of Bridges & Civil Engineering structure, preferably in project management.
  •  Proficiency in Excel, Word, and MS Project.
  •  Knowledge of project management and cost estimation software is an asset.
  •  Knowledge of AutoCAD is an asset.
  •  Methodical, good analytical skills, and strong planning abilities.
  •  Adaptability and ability to manage priorities.
  •  Able to work effectively under pressure within tight deadlines.
  •  Communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  •  Dynamic and reliable.
  •  Holder of a Health and Safety certificate, is an asset.
  •  Ability to solve problems creatively and make informed decisions in complex situations.
  •  Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  •  Ability to work on-site and travel as required by the project.
