Description
The Roofer Appentice is responsible for the construction, repair and maintenance of flat or sloped roofs on a variety of buildings, including residential, commercial, industrial and institutional. You play a vital role in protecting buildings from the elements by installing and maintaining high-quality roofing materials, in collaboration with a qualified Roofer.
Responsibilities
• Install roof coverings which may be composed of felts saturated with asphalt, hot bitumen and gravel.
• Install liquid elastomeric and thermoplastic membranes.
• Install different types of shingles.
• Repair and insulate roofs.
• Prepare the bridging.
• Apply lifting, handling, stripping, waterproofing, fixing, spreading and welding of membranes.
• Prepare the roof surface by installing underlayment materials and ensuring adequate ventilation under the roof.
• Perform repairs on damaged roofs, including replacing shingles or tiles, sealing leaks and realigning gutters.
• Perform regular maintenance on roofs to extend their lifespan and ensure their structural integrity.
• Work at height safely using personal protective equipment such as harnesses and ladders.
• Clean up the land after and during the work.
Requirements
• Degree in roof covering installation, or equivalent training, or equivalent experience, an asset.
• Have a general health and safety card on construction sites, an asset.
• Experience as a roofer, an asset.
• Must meet company health and quality standards.
• Be thorough.
• Have a sense of organization.
• Be able to work in a team and at height.
• Ability to move heavy objects.
• Have good physical condition and be able to adapt to extreme temperature changes.
• Have good manual dexterity.
• Demonstrate punctuality and attendance.
• Have a sense of initiative.
