Description
The Structural Steel Erector is responsible for the assembly and installation of structural steel elements on a variety of projects, including heavy residential, commercial, institutional and industrial projects. This role is crucial to ensuring the stability and safety of structures, as well as ensuring compliance with construction standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
• Carry out all steel assembly work.
• Prepare the work site by securing the area.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and schematics to understand project specifications and assembly requirements.
• Assemble steel structural members, including beams, columns, posts and trusses, according to project plans and specifications.
• Use specialized tools and equipment, such as welders and wrenches, to secure parts in place.
• Install steel structural members by securely attaching them to foundations, walls and other existing structures using welding, bolting or anchoring techniques.
• Ensure that elements are aligned, leveled and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Carry out regular inspections to verify the quality of assembly and installation of structural steel elements.
• Identify and correct defects or non-conformities as soon as they are detected.
• Perform other tasks related and complementary to the job.
Requirements
• Degree in steel assembly or a related field.
• Experience working on site, an asset.
• Knowledge of welding, bolting and anchoring techniques used in steel erection.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and technical diagrams.
• Ability to work at height and in varied and sometimes difficult work environments.
• Compliance with safety standards and construction industry regulations.
