Description
The Superintendent - Earthworks and Highways supervises the construction of major highway projects. In collaboration with the project manager, he is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the work and ensuring quality and safety standards. He is also responsible for managing, training and supervising the site team to successfully complete the work.
Responsibilities
• Supervise and coordinate site work.
• Supervise all site activities.
• Plan short and medium term work.
• Support the project team with cost tracking and project planning.
• Support the project team in managing any changes and deviations from contractual documents.
• Manage all activities relating to the execution of construction work.
• Correctly interpret plans and specifications and ensure compliance with the schedule.
• Distribute the work among your work teams.
• Inform the project manager of the performance of his teams and subcontractors.
• Ensure the application and compliance with occupational health and safety policies.
• Participate in site meetings.
• Complete the daily report of work and quantities.
Requirements
• Significant experience on major earthworks and highway projects.
• Knowledge of BIM, an asset.
• Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) on site.
• Knowledge of construction laws.
• Ease of reading civil engineering plans.
• Leadership.
• Team player.
• Initiative and leadership skills.
• Know how to manage and supervise the workforce on site.
• Ability to act quickly and efficiently.
• Have a motivating and unifying spirit.
• Have good physical capacity and resistance to stress.
