Responsibilities
• Set up work zones with signage and mark hazards
• Operate heavy equipment: loader, skid steer, packer and rock truck
• Handle and distribute construction materials
• Shovel and grade soil (shooting grade)
• Manage site traffic control (flagging)
• Perform hand excavation and install geotextiles for erosion control
• Monitor equipment operation (equipment watch)
• Communicate clearly with team members and follow all safety procedures and PPE protocols
• Adhere to project specifications and contribute to high‑quality outcomes
• Demonstrate sound judgment, problem‑solving and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in earthworks, heavy civil construction, mining or oilfield services
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 3‑year abstract
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and procedures
• Able to safely lift up to 50 lb (23 kg) repeatedly
Mandatory Requirements
• Pre‑employment alcohol, drug and fit‑to‑work testing
• Certifications: CSTS‑09 / OSSA Regional or BSO/CSO, Intermediate First Aid, H2S Alive/Awareness, Bear Awareness (in‑class)
• Own CSA‑approved steel‑toe safety boots, minimum 6″ height, lace‑up style
Working Conditions
• Outdoor work in all weather (rain, snow, heat)
• Exposure to noise and vibrations
• Up to 12‑hour shifts, day or night
• Remote sites on a rotational schedule with accommodation provided
