Description
The Building Mechanical Engineer assumes responsibilities for the design and management of building mechanical projects in the institutional, residential, commercial and industrial sector. He plays an important role as technical and team manager, he enforces quality assurance, technical standards, deadlines and the allocated budget.
Responsibilities
• Plan, supervise and carry out the design of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing), and/or energy management – regulation and control, and clean plumbing systems (clean steam, medical gases, water purified water for injection and cleaning systems in place).
• Participate in the drafting of technical quotes and studies with reports including principle studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design.
• Carry out surveys of existing installations, improve existing systems and develop new solutions taking into account existing installations.
• Evaluate building mechanics construction cost budgets.
• Determine the concepts used to carry out projects according to customer requests.
• Supervise and carry out the preparation of plans and specifications.
• Collaborate with technical staff (technicians, designers and other engineers attached to projects).
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering services in collaboration with other stakeholders (architecture, civil structure, electricity, etc.).
• Supervise and produce budget estimates, as well as plan and quote reports.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with specialization in building mechanics.
• Experience in consulting engineering and building mechanics, an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable standards and codes.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Know specialized software (e.g.: AutoCAD, Revit MEP), and load calculations.
