Description
The Crane Signaller is responsible for communicating effectively with the crane operator to ensure the safety and accuracy of lifting operations on construction sites. This role is essential to ensure the safety of workers and equipment when handling heavy and bulky loads.
Responsibilities
• Provide instructions to crane operators when moving equipment and others in a safe manner.
• Communicate clearly with the crane operator using hand signals, radio signals, or other approved methods of communication.
• Continuously monitor the movements of the load and report any problems or anomalies to the crane operator.
• Ensure that the lifting area is clear of any obstacles or potential hazards before beginning operations.
• Control the movement of workers and vehicles near the lifting area to ensure their safety.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and established operational procedures for lifting operations.
• Perform other related duties.
Requirements
• Experience in construction or related field.
• Having training as a construction site flagman, an asset.
• Have experience as a Crane Signaller, an asset.
• Have completed tower Crane Signaller training, an asset.
• Have good team spirit, a sense of responsibility and autonomy.
• Have good organizational skills as well as a good ability to adapt and learn.
• Hold a valid driving license.
• Be attentive at all times, attentive and foreseeing.
• Vigilance in terms of health and safety at work (OSH).
• Available to work variable hours (day, evening and night) and on call.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
