Description
The Mechanical Engineer Project Manager assumes responsibilities for the design and management of building mechanics projects in the institutional, residential, commercial and industrial sector. He plays an important role as technical and team manager, he enforces quality assurance, technical standards, deadlines and the allocated budget.
Responsibilities
• Plan, supervise and carry out the design and installation of mechanical systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing), and/or energy management – regulation and control, and clean plumbing systems (clean steam, medical gases, purified water, water for injection and cleaning systems in place).
• Participate in the drafting of technical quotes and studies with reports including principle studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design.
• Carry out surveys of existing installations, improve existing systems and develop new solutions taking into account existing installations.
• Evaluate building mechanics construction cost budgets.
• Determine the concepts used to carry out projects according to customer requests.
• Supervise and carry out the preparation of plans and specifications.
• Manage and support technical staff (technicians, designers and other engineers attached to projects).
• Check and coordinate mechanical engineering services in collaboration with other stakeholders (architecture, civil structure, electricity, etc.).
• Supervise and produce budget estimates, as well as plan and quote reports.
• Participate in work supervision.
• Administer projects (invoicing, monitoring and requests for amendments) in collaboration with the administrative department.
• Prepare service offers and participate in development under the supervision of Management.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with specialization in building mechanics.
• Experience in consulting engineering and in a management role, an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable standards and codes.
• Have the ability to represent the company well to its customers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Know specialized software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit MEP), and load calculations (e.g. TRACE).
