Description
The Architectural Technician plays an essential role in the process of designing and carrying out architectural projects. Working closely with architects and engineers, this professional is responsible for producing detailed technical drawings, plans and models to guide the construction of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.
Responsibilities
• Produce detailed architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations and details.
• Use computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD and Revit to create accurate drawings.
• Create 3D models of buildings and structures to visualize architectural concepts and facilitate communication with clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and other construction professionals to integrate requirements and specifications into drawings.
• Prepare technical documents such as quotes, specifications and site reports.
• Assist in the preparation of building inspection reports and assessments.
• Ensure architectural drawings comply with construction standards, building codes and local regulations.
• Provide technical support to construction crews in the field by answering questions and providing clarifications on drawings.
Requirements
• Diploma of college studies (DEC) in architectural techniques or a related field.
• Experience in technical drawing and architectural design, preferably in the construction sector, an asset.
• Proficient in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
• Knowledge of construction standards and building codes applicable.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
