Description

The BIM Modeler - Electrical is responsible for creating, managing and coordinating detailed 3D models of electrical systems for construction projects in various sectors such as residential, commercial, institutional and industrial. You use Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to collaborate with design and construction teams, ensuring the integration and coordination of electrical system information throughout the project lifecycle.

Your role

    Ensure the modeling of the electrical network of buildings. This involves creating a 3D model of all electrical cables, conduits, outlets and circuit breakers. This model can be used to simulate electrical performance, check compliance with standards and assist in the planning and management of the electrical installation.
    Collect information about the existing electricity network. Blueprints, electrical diagrams, data sheets and material lists can be helpful for this task.
    Create a 3D model of the building using BIM software. This model should include all the details necessary for modeling the electrical network, such as walls, doors, windows and ceilings.
    Add electrical items such as cables, conduits, outlets, switches and circuit breakers. It is important to take into account the standards and codes in force during electrical installation to ensure the safety and reliability of the electrical network.
    Verify compliance of the electrical network with current standards and codes in order to avoid costly errors and project delays.
    Simulate electrical performance, identify potential conflicts and optimize installation planning.

Responsibilities

    Use specialized BIM software such as Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP or equivalent to create and modify 3D models of electrical systems, including electrical circuits, appliances and controls.
    Collaborate with electrical engineers and other project team members to understand project requirements and translate concepts into accurate BIM models.
    Create model elements such as conductors, fixtures, distribution panels, and protective devices following applicable electrical design and construction standards.
    Integrate data related to electrical systems such as equipment specifications, electrical loads, cable trays and safety information into the BIM model.
    Ensure coordination of electrical models with other disciplines such as architectural, structural and mechanical engineering to ensure project integrity and compatibility.
    Perform collision analyzes to detect potential conflicts between elements of electrical systems and propose design solutions.
    Prepare working drawings, installation plans and detail drawings from the BIM model for project documentation.
    Participate in project coordination meetings to discuss progress, challenges and possible solutions with team members.
    Ensure the management and regular updating of the electrical BIM model throughout the project life cycle.
    Attend and participate in internal and external BIM development meetings.
    Develop, implement, disseminate, enforce and update BIM standards for projects.

Requirements

    DEC in electrical engineering, building technology, or a related field.
    Experience using BIM software, preferably in the electrical or construction engineering field, an asset.
    Knowledge of electrical design concepts and practices
    Knowledge of Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, or equivalent software.
    Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate clearly and precisely.
    Strong sense of organization, precision and time management to meet project deadlines.
    Knowledge of building standards and codes applicable.
