Description

The Dray Truck Driver is responsible for the safe operation of a heavy vehicle called a dray truck, used primarily for transporting heavy and bulky loads such as construction equipment, building materials or heavy machinery. It ensures the loading and unloading of goods while respecting road and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

    Drive the truck safely and efficiently, respecting road traffic rules and speed limits.
    Load and unload goods carefully, using appropriate equipment such as winches, hoists or forklifts.
    Ensure the safe securing of loads on the dray using straps, chains or other securing devices in accordance with current standards and regulations.
    Perform pre-departure checks to ensure the hauler is in good working order, including brakes, lights, tires and hydraulic systems.
    Maintain an accurate logbook to record driving hours, distances traveled, and loading and unloading activities.
    Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, customers and team members to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve potential issues.
    Comply with company safety policies and participate in road safety and freight transportation training programs.
    Perform basic maintenance tasks on the cart such as cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn parts.
    Report incidents, accidents or mechanical problems to management and follow established procedures for documenting these events.

Requirements

    Heavy vehicle driver certification.
    Skills in operating heavy equipment.
    Previous experience driving a truck or heavy vehicle, preferably in the field of freight transport.
    Knowledge of road regulations and safety rules applicable to the transportation of goods.
    Developed sense of responsibility, punctuality and reliability.
    Good communication skills and ability to work independently while respecting safety instructions and delivery schedules.
