Description
As a Milling Machine Operator, you play a crucial role in the preparation of roadways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces for resurfacing. Operating specialized milling equipment, you are responsible for removing the existing surface layer of asphalt or concrete to ensure a smooth and uniform base for subsequent paving operations.
Responsibilities
• Operate and control the milling machine to remove the existing surface layer of asphalt or concrete from roadways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces.
• Adjust the depth and speed of the milling machine's cutting drum to achieve the desired milling depth and surface texture.
• Maneuver the milling machine safely and effectively around obstacles, traffic, and other work site hazards.
• Monitor the milling process and make necessary adjustments to ensure the quality and consistency of the milled surface.
• Collaborate with other members of the paving crew to coordinate milling operations with subsequent paving activities.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the milling machine to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries on the job site.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
Requirements
• Hold a certificate of competence.
• Experience in a similar position, an asset.
• Having experience in the field of bituminous coatings, an asset.
• Be concerned about health and safety at work
• Have good physical condition.
• Have the ability to work alone and in a team.
• Be autonomous, disciplined, responsible and meticulous.
