Description
The Project Manager - Industrial Mechanics is responsible for the management and coordination of projects related to the installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment in industrial facilities. It plays a crucial role in the planning, execution and monitoring of projects to ensure their success and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
• Develop detailed project plans in collaboration with the project management team, defining objectives, timelines, required resources and expected deliverables.
• Ensure the effective coordination of human, material and financial resources necessary for the execution of the project, ensuring their availability and appropriate allocation.
• Coordinate on construction sites with the superintendent and foremen.
• Supervise construction sites and take care of project start-ups.
• Select and manage subcontractors and suppliers for the mechanical aspects of the project, negotiating contracts, supervising work and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
• Regularly monitor project progress against planned timelines and budgets, identifying and resolving potential issues that could compromise project completion.
• Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards throughout the project, by carrying out regular inspections and coordinating quality assurance activities.
• Identify potential risks associated with the project and implement appropriate mitigation measures to minimize their impact on schedule, budget and quality.
• Ensure clear and regular communication with all project stakeholders, including clients, team members, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including progress reports, scope changes, claims and payment requests.
• Facilitate effective project closeout by documenting lessons learned, evaluating project performance, and transitioning final deliverables to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
• Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or a related field.
• Experience in managing industrial mechanics projects, preferably in the construction or civil engineering industry, an asset.
• In-depth knowledge of equipment and mechanical systems used in industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of project management principles, including planning, execution, monitoring and controlling.
• Knowledge of industrial mechanics, welding and structure.
• Knowledge of industrial piping (steel and stainless), an asset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and build trusting relationships with team members, customers and other stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budgets.
• Flexibility to travel to project sites as needed and to work around project schedules, including overtime if necessary.
• Good knowledge of the Office suite and MS Project.
• Knowledge of Autocad and SolidWorks software, an asset.
• Knowledge of TPL and CTRL software, an asset.
