Description
The Assistant Project Manager supports the project management team in the coordination and execution of various tasks related to the planning, implementation and monitoring of construction and civil engineering projects. This role is essential to ensure the smooth running of projects and guarantee compliance with deadlines, budgets and quality standards.
Responsibilities
• Contribute to the development of project plans by collaborating with the project management team to define objectives, timelines and necessary resources.
• Assist in monitoring project timelines, ensuring that various milestones are met in a timely manner and reporting any potential delays to the management team.
• Assist in the coordination of human, material and financial resources necessary for the execution of the project, ensuring their availability and efficient allocation.
• Ensure effective communication between project team members, subcontractors, suppliers and clients, conveying relevant information and responding to inquiries.
• Assist in managing and updating project documentation, including plans, progress reports, submittals, permits and correspondence.
• Participate in the inspection and quality control of work carried out on site to ensure compliance with project standards and specifications.
• Assist in project cost management by tracking expenses, comparing budget forecasts to actual costs, and identifying potential variances.
• Contribute to the identification and assessment of potential project risks, as well as the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.
• Participate in the evaluation of project performance and the preparation of closure reports.
• Perform any other related tasks, such as approving invoices, tracking and sending QRTs and shop drawings, preparing subcontracts and purchase orders, assisting in coordination with foremen, etc.
Requirements
• Degree in construction engineering, civil engineering, project management, or a related field.
• Experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction or civil engineering industry, an asset.
• Knowledge of project management concepts, including planning, organizing, executing and controlling, an asset.
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good knowledge of IT tools and project management software, an asset.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and build trusting relationships with team members and other stakeholders.
• Flexibility to travel to job sites as needed and to work around project schedules, including overtime if necessary.
